February - Taiwan's Pingxi Festival
Rainbow room and Sunshine room have been learning all about the history and magical traditions of the Pingxi sky lantern Festival which is based in Taiwan. It is believed that the festival dates back to when the town of Pingxi was a remote but affluent district, lots of villagers often took to the mountains to escape dangers in the winter. When the worst of the winter had passed, sky lanterns were flown through the darkness from those who stayed behind to signal that it was safe for them to return.
