Sunshine Room 2024 - 2025

Sunshine Room is our provision for children who are eligible for government funding for two year olds . Here children make an early start on their education and prepare for their time in nursery.

Sunshine Room is a small room, filled with big adventures. Our environment is calm, homely and welcoming, full of irresistible opportunities for the children to explore, both indoors and outdoors.

Our data shows that the children who were entitled to, and used the 2-year funding at Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School last year made significant progress across all areas of learning and development.

With small ratios, we are able to give each individual child the support that they need to meet their full potential, developing their confidence, self-esteem, language, physical development, imagination, and so much more. It is crucial that the children feel safe, secure and happy in order for them to learn. We know our children and families very well and work with the parents to meet their child’s needs, whether it be with potty training, taking away the dummy, or anything else.

Children attend on a part-time basis of either five morning or five afternoon sessons totalling 15 hours per week

Session Times

Morning Sessions 8.30am - 11.30am OR Afternoon Sessions 12.30pm - 3.30pm

Some parents of 2-year-old children may be entitled to 15 hours childcare support, if they receive additional government support.  Eligible working parents of 2-year-olds can also access 15 hours of childcare support.  Please note, if you’re eligible for both the working entitlement and the 15 hours for families receiving support, you cannot take up both offers, and should apply for the 15 hours for families receiving support. You can do this by contacting your local authority.

If spaces are available we are also able to offer families the opportunity to purchase additional hours at a rate of £6.00 per hour.  Please speak with Janet or Louise in the office if this is somethng you may be interested in

There is an expectation for our funding that all 2-year olds attend a minimum of 85% of their possible sessions.
