Birdbath - 20 Years Celebration Piece- Spring 2024

Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School turned 20!

The children have taken part in a project- to create a piece of art work to mark the very special occasion. We challenged the children to create a bird bath for our garden area. We thought about what we would need to include and the journey the children make from starting with us to transitioning to Primary school and wanted to ensure we included representations of this within. 

Starting at the bottom, with the children’s faces and working their way up to the shoots, leaves and flower that flourishes in the middle - then on to the top of the bath with butterflies, birds and dragonflies - ready to spread their wings, on to their next adventure! 

The children across nursery took part in all aspects of the birdbath. Creating faces; rolling worms to create lettering; modelling figures; paint work, creating mosaic, etching in patterns and so much more! 

The children are so proud of the final piece - and so they should be...

It now has pride of place in our garden area for all to see and for nature to enjoy!
