Fire safety in the forest

Today in Forest School, SUnshine room had their first fire of the school year!... However, as the ground was so wet, the fire continued to go out despite Forest School Leader Jo’s efforts. 

The children sat beautifully around the fire and waited patiently. Jo spoke to them about how to be safe around fire pit- and also had a discussion with the children about fireworks and bonfires.

Jo gave each child a stick and modelled how to safely hold a sparkler at arms length. Everyone had a turn to hold out their pretend sparkler and were supported to carefully make circular movements away from their bodies.

Sunshine room will continue to discuss fire safety and safety around fireworks - particularly during the lead up to Bonfire Night, Hanukkah and Christmas.
