Garden Room- Big Question - End of Term Summary- Term 1:1

This half-term the children have been thinking about our 'big question'...

What do I know about me?

The children have taken part in many activities and discussions around themselves; their families; likes and dislikes; similarities and differences and much more.

The children have learnt about each other and have a growing sense of belonging within our nursery community. This has been lovely to witness. We have talked about our families, our homes, pets and our favourite toys and colours.

We have also enjoyed learning one of our focus rhymes 'head, shoulders, knees and toes'. This has helped us to name and identify our body parts. The children used mirrors to draw self-portraits, inculding as much detail as possible. We also used loose parts to create transient art faces. We looked in detail at our hand and finger prints and talked about how each of us has differences in our finger prints. We used paint to print out hands and finger prints onto large paper.

Some of the children completed home learning about themselves and their families, and have been able to share this with their peers.

The children are now able to talk about themselves and their families at their own level and have a secure sense of belonging as part of our Nursery. They are able to talk positivity about themselves and show increased understanding of the similarities and differences between themselves and their friends.
