Term 3.1 A Visit from an Author

Class: Garden Room Year: 2022 - 2023

In May we had a special visitor called Sean. He came to read us his new story Oscar and Ben - The Birthday Party. Sean is the author and illustrator of the book, that means he wrote the words and drew the pictures.

Sean then read us ‘Oscar and Ben The Birthday Party’ he even had some sound effects for us to listen to.
There were others characters in the story Sid the Mouse, Hank the Frog and Mrs Hen.
It is Mrs Hen’s birthday and Oscar and Ben had to go to her house, they thought they knew a short cut but got lost in the woods, they met some animals who sent them the wrong way!
They carried Mrs Hen’s birthday present all through the woods and eventually they made it to the party!

We guessed what the present might be, our ideas were balloons, a car, food, and cake!
Sean opened the box and we found out it was a birthday cake for Mrs Hen.

We really enjoyed the story.

Next Sean taught us how to draw Oscar the cat. He explained how to draw using different shapes and we copied shape by shape and soon we had drawn our own cat!

We really enjoyed the story and drawing Oscar today.
