Early Years Pupil Premium

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

The Government believes that the Early Years Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way for early years’ settings to improve the education they provide for disadvantaged 3 and 4 year olds.

The Early Years Pupil Premium is allocated to 3 and 4 year old children from low-income families if the family meets at least one of the following criteria:

Income Support

+ income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

+ income-related Employment and Support Allowance

+ support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

+ the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

Child Tax Credit (provided they’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)

Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

Universal Credit

+ Been in local-authority care for 1 day or more in England or Wales

+ Adopted from care in England or Wales

+ Left care under a special guardianship order or residence order in England or Wales

Each child registered receives £300; this money goes directly into the school budget

It is for schools to decide how the Early Years Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual children within their responsibility.

Children’s progress is analysed termly and we evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention and the impact it has had. You will see the results of this at the end of the academic year (July).

Help us to continue to provide the very best opportunities for all of our children.  If you are a low-income family or you think you may meet one of the criteria please speak to someone in school – every penny we receive in Early Years Pupil Premium makes a difference.
